ROBotic quality control of metal concentrates from WEEE treatment

Indumetal participates in the ROBEE project with the aim of increasing the purity of one of the metal fractions obtained from WEEE treatment, as well as its treatment capacity and the recovery performance of both metals and hazardous substances.

The ROBEE project arises from the collaboration between the environmental cluster ACLIMA, the Gaiker technology centre and Indumetal Recycling, in response to the demand for increasingly efficient technologies and processes for the recovery of resources contained in complex waste streams and for markets for recycled materials, a permanent concern for companies dedicated to waste management and treatment.
In this context, the ROBEE project aims to lay the necessary technological foundations for the development of solutions to identify impurities and to acquire knowledge for their automated separation through the manufacture of a prototype, serving as a starting point for the development of a more advanced solution that can replace the manual sorting operations currently applied, in order to increase the efficiency and capacity for recovering recoverable materials and removing hazardous components, ultimately increasing the quality and quantity of the secondary materials obtained and, therefore, the overall profitability of the process.
