Industrial demonstration of the circular use of plastics from WEEE management through the INDUPLAST process via quality monitoring and market validation of recovered fractions
The INIRE project aims to demonstrate the technical, environmental and economic viability of the INDUPLAST process for the treatment and valorization of plastics from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). In a context of the growing presence of plastics in this type of waste, the project addresses one of the sector’s main challenges: the efficient recovery of complex plastic materials in compliance with current regulations.


Through the optimization of the INDUPLAST process, based on mechanical separation technologies such as the sink-float method, it has been possible to improve the quality of the recovered fractions and increase their recycling potential. In addition, a quality control protocol has been developed and implemented to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly with regard to the presence of brominated flame retardants.
The project has enabled the validation of the process at an industrial scale, identifying critical points such as the plastic-metal fraction and proposing solutions for its valorisation, with a recovery potential of over 85% for certain polymers. Furthermore, the life cycle assessment carried out confirms a significant reduction in environmental impact, highlighting the decrease in greenhouse gas emissions and improved resource efficiency.
INIRE positions Indumetal and Induplast Recycling as benchmarks in innovation applied to WEEE plastic recycling, contributing to the advancement of the circular economy and the generation of high-value recycled materials for reintegration into the production chain.
