Automated soRting and safE pre-procesSing of EoL BaTteries with nOvel smart and fast dismantling, and sepaRation technolgies for direct reuse of high purity materials in Energy storage application
Indumetal participates in the European RESTORE project (Horizon Europe, 2025–2028), focused on the development of innovative solutions for recycling end-of-life batteries, especially lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles and domestic applications.

Throughout the project, advanced sorting, dismantling and pre-treatment technologies are being designed and validated, aimed at improving the efficiency, safety and sustainability of current recycling processes. These solutions combine conventional methods with new automated separation techniques, adapted to the diversity of batteries currently available on the market.
RESTORE aims to maximize the recovery of high-purity materials, including not only strategic metals, but also components that are usually lost in conventional processes, such as electrolyte, graphite or active cathode materials, facilitating their direct reuse in new energy storage applications.
In this way, the project helps strengthen the circular economy in the battery sector, promoting the efficient use of resources, reducing dependence on critical raw materials and supporting the development of a more sustainable and competitive value chain in Europe.
