From its foundation in 1928 to the present day, these are the main milestones that shape our business history

Foundation of Industrias Reunido Minero Metalúrgicas

INDUMETAL, dedicated to the refining of copper, silver and gold. The company’s strategy changed in 1984 with the creation of Indumetal Recycling, leaving metal refining behind to focus on the concentration of copper and precious metals through mechanical processes.

Indumetal Recycling

Indumetal Recycling is founded, providing environmentally friendly solutions in complex scrap recycling and the dismantling of industrial telecommunications facilities.

  • 1993

Recypilas

Recypilas is created, a pioneer in the recycling of all types of batteries, accumulators and fluorescent lamps.

  • 1994

First pilot experience for waste collection and management

Indumetal Recycling and Bilbao City Council develop the first pilot experience that would become the basis for a WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) collection and recycling model in the Basque Country, and which would serve as a reference for subsequent initiatives in other Autonomous Communities and EU member states

ISO 9001 Quality Certification

Lloyd’s Register grants the Indumetal Recycling plant the ISO 9001 certificate, accrediting the optimum quality standards of the treatment processes at the company’s plant in Asúa-Erandio.

Foundation of Electrorecycling

The expansion of the business network for WEEE treatment in Spain begins with the creation of Electrorecycling in Barcelona.

ISO 14001 Certification

Lloyd’s Register certifies the quality of the treatments from an environmental perspective through the granting of ISO 14001.

  • 2004

Foundation of Recilec

Recilec is created in Seville to respond to the need for WEEE treatment in the geographical area of Andalusia.

  • 2005

European WEEE Directive

That year, the European Commission enacted the first directive regulating the management and treatment of WEEE. This regulation represented an important boost to increase the recycling rates of this waste.

  • 2006

Madrid branch

The network of plants for WEEE treatment is consolidated with the creation in San Agustín de Guadalix of a plant that will provide recycling services for waste electrical and electronic equipment generated in its surrounding area.

  • 2012

New Recybérica Ambiental Plant

Six years after the opening of the Madrid branch, Recybérica Ambiental is founded, consolidating its activity in a new plant in Torrejón de Ardoz.

New WEEE Directive

The Government enacts a new Royal Decree that replaces the previous one from 2005 and adapts Spanish regulations to the European directive. It maintains the principle of extended producer responsibility, meaning that the producer of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) is obliged to finance the proper environmental management of the waste generated by the devices they place on the market.

Weeelabex Certificate

With this certification, Indumetal Recycling receives international recognition for excellence in the treatment of different types of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). WEEELABEX is an international non-profit organisation whose role is to audit electrical and electronic waste management and treatment processes.

27/2021 Royal Decree

The Ministry for Ecological Transition approves a new 27/2021 Royal Decree aimed at improving the management of waste batteries, accumulators and electrical and electronic equipment. Its implementation will improve the conditions for receiving waste at the plant, optimising Indumetal Recycling’s management.

Creation of Induplast Recycling

Induplast Recycling is founded, a modern and innovative WEEE plastics recycling plant located in Zalla (Bizkaia).

  • 2026

ISO 45001 Certification

Lloyd’s Register grants Indumetal Recycling, Recypilas and Induplast the certificate accrediting occupational health and safety.
